As part of the ongoing activities within the KUL project, a dedicated three-day online lecture series on Traditional Crafts was held on May 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2025. The sessions were organized by the Serbian project partner, 🇷🇸 Engineers for Environmental Protection Novi Sad, and gathered participants from all three partner organizations:
-
CUK Bjelovar – Center for Lifelong Learning and Culture Bjelovar (Croatia)
-
Engineers for Environmental Protection Novi Sad (Serbia)
-
Development Center Murska Sobota (Slovenia)
The module focused on the preservation, revitalization, and sustainable development of traditional craftsmanship, with an emphasis on the role of heritage skills in contemporary creative and cultural industries. Participants had the opportunity to engage with experts, discuss various craft practices from the region, and explore ways to reconnect these skills with today’s markets and values.
Topics included:
-
The cultural and historical significance of traditional crafts
-
Challenges in preserving craft knowledge and passing it on to future generations
-
Opportunities for innovation, sustainable production, and local identity through craftsmanship
-
Case studies of successful craft revitalization projects
These sessions were part of the KUL project’s broader mission to support cross-border cooperation and lifelong learning in the fields of sustainable culture, creative sectors, and heritage-based innovation.
The Traditional Crafts module inspired rich discussions on how old skills can gain new life and meaning when linked with ecological awareness, education, and modern storytelling.
What’s Next?
The project continues with upcoming online sessions in the Sustainable Fashion & Design module, co-organized by CUK Bjelovar and Callegari – the Italian School of Fashion and Design.
📅 Next sessions: May 20th & 27th
We thank all the participants for their engagement and enthusiasm, and we look forward to the continued exchange of knowledge, ideas, and inspiration across borders.
