🎨 Mobility in Novi Sad: Celebrating Artistic and Traditional Crafts

The first international mobility within the KUL Project has come to a successful close. Dedicated to the Artistic and Traditional Crafts sector, this exchange took place in Novi Sad, Serbia, with participants from Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia actively engaging in a rich program of learning, creativity, and cultural discovery. The host of this mobility was our valued project partner – the Association of Environmental Protection Engineers of Novi Sad.

Throughout the mobility, participants had the opportunity to explore a wide range of local institutions and workshops, gaining insights into the preservation, innovation, and future of traditional crafts in the region. One of the first highlights was a visit to the unique cultural institution Atelje 61, a specialized tapestry studio and gallery which houses part of Serbia’s national collection and is one of only five such institutions in Europe.

In addition, the group visited the Museum of the City of Novi Sad, deepening their understanding of the city’s cultural and historical heritage. The mobility also included several hands-on experiences:

  • A weaving workshop in the premises of the local artisans’ association

  • A creative cosmetics workshop, focused on handmade products using natural ingredients

  • And a memorable visit to a social cooperative run by young people with autism, where participants produced custom badges and magnets in a warm, inclusive setting

The mobility was not only about learning but also about connecting – across borders, generations, and creative disciplines. It fostered intercultural dialogue, practical skill-sharing, and a renewed appreciation for the role of traditional crafts in contemporary society.

🌿 Next Chapter: Sustainable Cultural Tourism Mobility Begins in Slovenia
While the first group returns home with new knowledge and inspiration, a new journey begins today. The second KUL mobility, focused on the Sustainable Cultural Tourism sector, is now underway in Slovenia, hosted by our project partner – the Development Centre Murska Sobota.

This mobility will gather participants passionate about ecological and community-driven tourism practices, offering opportunities to exchange good practices, explore sustainable destinations, and co-create innovative cultural experiences.

The program is implemented under the Creative Europe sector framework, emphasizing cross-border cultural collaboration and sustainable innovation.

We look forward to sharing updates, stories, and reflections from this new chapter of the KUL Project.

Stay tuned!
