Launching the Creative Industries Development Centre (KUL) Project in Bjelovar: Empowering Sustainable Tourism, Crafts, Fashion, and Design

The Creative Industries Development Centre (KUL) project has officially launched at the Centar za cjeloživotno učenje i kulturu Bjelovar (CUK), opening new opportunities for those interested in sustainable tourism, crafts, fashion, and design. The kick-off conference, held on November 7, 2023, introduced the project’s objectives, key partners, and the wide range of educational programs available to participants.

What is the KUL Project?

The KUL project aims to support individuals eager to develop their creative and entrepreneurial skills in three key sectors: sustainable tourism, crafts, and fashion & design. The project, funded by the Creative Europe Programme and co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and New Media, will bring together participants from Croatia, Serbia, and Slovenia to enhance the creative industries and promote job creation in the region.

A Unique Regional Partnership

CUK Bjelovar is the lead partner in the project, collaborating with two important partners from neighboring countries:

  • Razvojni Center Murska Sobota (Slovenia) – focusing on sustainable tourism.
  • Inženjeri zaštite životne sredine (Serbia) – focusing on crafts.

CUK Bjelovar will take the lead in the fashion and design sector, offering tailored educational programs aimed at equipping participants with the necessary skills to succeed in these creative fields.

Educational Opportunities for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

The KUL project will offer a three-phase educational journey designed to inspire creativity, foster innovation, and provide participants with essential entrepreneurial tools:

  1. Foundational Education: Participants will receive training on entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and financial management.
  2. Creativity and Innovation Workshops: Sector-specific experts will teach participants how to express creativity, generate innovative ideas, and refine their craft.
  3. Mobility and Practical Workshops: Participants will travel to partner countries for hands-on workshops in their chosen sector, reinforcing their learning and providing international exposure.

Open to a Diverse Audience

The KUL project is focused on individuals with fewer opportunities, including those from rural areas or those facing unemployment, but there are no age restrictions. Participants from various backgrounds are encouraged to apply, as the project aims to foster diversity and exchange ideas within the creative industries. The program will run from November 2023 to October 2025, with 45 participants per sector in each of the three countries.

Support for Rural Development

One of the project’s key goals is to support rural revitalization by empowering individuals to start their own creative businesses and contribute to the local economy. By facilitating cross-border collaboration and skill development, the KUL project aims to create sustainable, long-term impact for participants and their communities.

Interested individuals can apply for the KUL project by sending an email to:

Building a Creative Future Together

The KUL project is designed not only to educate but also to inspire participants to follow their passion and start a creative business. By connecting with like-minded individuals and industry professionals, participants will gain the confidence and knowledge to turn their creative dreams into reality.

As the project progresses, the CUK team is optimistic that it will contribute to a sustainable, creative economy in the region, creating job opportunities and revitalizing local communities.

Meet the Team Behind the KUL Project

The project was developed with the help of Tin Tustić, a recent addition to CUK, who has been instrumental in the project’s creation. With a background in sociology, Tin moved to Bjelovar from Zagreb and is passionate about making a positive impact through this project. He believes that the KUL project offers a unique opportunity for participants to not only learn but also network and exchange ideas across borders.

In addition to Tin, other key partners include Rok Petje from Razvojni Center Murska Sobota and Igor Jezdimirović from Inženjeri zaštite životne sredine, who are committed to strengthening the creative industries in their respective countries.
